FAQ

Good questions

Do I need a building consent for a granny flat?

Since 15 January 2026, a simple, single-storey standalone dwelling of up to 70 m² can be built without a building consent — if every exemption condition is met, the work is done or supervised by licensed professionals, and you get a project information memorandum (PIM) from your council before you start. Read our plain-English guide.

What's included in the price?

Each brochure lists what's included for that home — kitchen, bathroom, electrical, insulation and finishes. Prices exclude GST and site-specific costs like council fees, foundations, transport, site works and service connections. Ask us for a free site-specific estimate so there are no surprises.

Can I change a floor plan?

Yes. We offer free customisation of our floor plans — tell us what you need and we'll shape the design around it.

Do you deliver outside Auckland?

Yes — we deliver New Zealand wide. Homes can be built in our yard or supplied as a flatpack kitset for your licensed builder. Freight and climate-zone requirements vary by location.

How long does a build take?

Every project is different. Recent examples: a sleepout in Whangārei took around 2 months and a tiny home in Clevedon about 5 months from start to finish.

Is finance available?

Yes — ask us about spreading the cost of your new home with finance.

Why light gauge steel?

Our frames use NZ Steel Axxis® light gauge steel with 50-year steel durability: it's straight, strong and won't rot, warp or attract borers.
